Motorbikes, there is no greater feeling than a ride-out with the lads, regardless of the weather. My day-to-day ride is a Kawasaki ZZR1400, owned from new, is now eight years old and one of the best bikes I have ever owned. I recently began to look for an alternative bike but to be honest, I couldn’t find one. Being a fan of retro and with a heart full of nostalgia I have decided to build my own bike.
What started out as a Suzuki GS650 GT is soon to be a Street Tracker but…..having bought one “donor bike” has ended up with three! The second bike I bought was to strip for parts to fit the Street Tracker. What I thought I was buying was a box of bits-n-bobs with an engine that had been removed from the bike. Looking around for the frame I was amazed to discover that the previous owner had restored the rolling chassis with the intention to return the bike to concours, original condition.
Unloading it from the van my wife did a double take……looking at me she said “you’re not going to strip it for parts are you? Surely it would be best to build another bike”…..there you have it, how could I refuse? what a woman!
